Biography:

Gösta Nystroem was a Swedish composer and conductor who was born on December 25, 1890 in Stockholm, Sweden. He was the son of a successful businessman and grew up in a musically-inclined family. Nystroem began playing the piano at a young age and later received formal musical training at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. 

After completing his studies, Nystroem began his professional career as a composer and quickly gained recognition for his works. Some of his most famous compositions include the orchestral suite "Sinfonia Breve" and the choral work "The Road of Life." Nystroem's music was characterized by its strong melodies and use of folk elements, and it was often inspired by the landscapes and culture of his native Sweden. 

In addition to his work as a composer, Nystroem was also a respected conductor. He served as the conductor of the Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra from 1939 to 1945 and conducted concerts with many other orchestras throughout Europe. 

Nystroem was married and had two children. He was known to be a private person who rarely gave interviews or spoke publicly about his personal life. Nystroem died on December 14, 1966 in Stockholm at the age of 75. 

Today, Nystroem is remembered as an important figure in Swedish classical music. His works continue to be performed and recorded, and he is considered one of the leading composers of his generation.
